  • Joe Pavona called a special meeting of the ILEHA Board to discuss the proposed Senior Center Project and a proposed neighborhood garage sale on May 16, 2020.  The special meeting was necessary as the Meridian Township Planning Commission was scheduled to hold a public hearing on Monday March 16, 2020 to discuss the proposed Senior Center Project.  Due to the nature of a “special” meeting, the Board will dispense with normal procedures such as approval of minutes and reports.

The Board meeting was conducted as a teleconference call due to the Covid-19 Coronavirus.  Board members dialed-in and Joe Pavona called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.  Members present were Joe Pavona, Tracy Pinto, Sean Looman, Sue Webster, Cindy Carson, Jill Garnett, and Carol Chapman.  Board legal counsel Jack Davis was also on the all.

Joe Pavona, Cindy Carson, Carol Chapman, and Sean Looman joined Jack Davis at his office on February 19, 2020 for a Zoom with Senior Center developer Andev.  The purpose of the meeting was to review the proposed plan in advance of the March 16, 2020 Meridian Township Planning Commission public hearing.  The group updated the Board on the meeting.

Mr. Davis and Joe Pavona updated the Board on their February 28, 2020 meeting with Meridian Township officials regarding the proposed Senior Center Plan.

The Board then reviewed the Senior Center Plan as submitted by Andev to the Township and asked Mr. Davis several questions.  The Board’s review was guided by three key principles: first, to maximize land preservation between ILE property lines and the senior center; second, no connectivity with ILE whatsoever through Tonapah Trail or any other location; and finally, a proper surface water management plan that meets all requirements as well as protects ILE and its surrounding area from additional water runoff.  Generally, the Board found the plan adequate in terms of land preservation (given current Township ordinances on setbacks and building heights) as well as the secondary ingress and egress plan.  However, several questions remained with respect to the surface water management plan.

The Board will immediately follow up with the Association homeowners by sending out an update email.  Joe Pavona and Jack Davis will plan on attending the Planning Commission meeting on Monday March 16th. to raise Board concerns regarding the surface water management plan and continue to monitor the process and protect the best interest of ILE.  (The meeting was subsequently cancelled due to the coronavirus and will be rescheduled later).

The Board discussed the suggestion by homeowner Katie McPherson to hold a neighborhood-wide garage sale on May 16, 2020.  The Board unanimously agreed that the garage sale should be postponed to a later date due to the presence of the Cobit-19 Coronavirus.  Tracy will follow up with Katie.

The meeting adjourned at 8 pm.
